Floss Calculator
Welcome to the online Familial Longevity Selection Score (FLoSS) calculator.
This calculator is designed to measure how strongly longevity (living a long life) runs in a person’s family. Your FLoSS is of interest to LLFS investigators and we use it as one of several inclusion criteria for possible future enrollment in the study.
Anyone is welcome to use the FLoSS calculator, HOWEVER it is designed to always be completed from the point of view of an individual in the oldest living generation of your family (this person is referred to as the ‘index’ individual for the family and is likely to be 80 year or more years old). If you are not in the oldest living generation, you should complete all items on the index person’s behalf.
BEFORE YOU BEGIN, you will need the following information on the ‘index’ individual and their siblings:
- Index individual’s birth year and sex (assigned at birth)
- Number of siblings and half-siblings of the index individual
- Information for each of the index individual’s siblings and/or half-siblings
o First name
o Birth year
o Sex (assigned at birth)
o Year of death (leave blank if they are still alive)
By using and submitting information to the FLoSS calculator, you agree to be emailed your results within 2 hours and to possibly be contacted by LLFS study staff for potential participation in future studies on exceptional aging. Thank you!
